Brillianta and Brillianta Calandré are climate neutral

Brillianta and Brillianta Calandré are since 2023 climate neutral. Currently unique for a textile cover material manufacturing company.

To realize this, we have partnered up with ClimatePartner, an organization known for its expertise in climate action strategies. The comprehensive analysis and calculation of our Corporate Carbon Footprint (CCF) and the Product Carbon Footprints (PCFs) for Brillianta and Brillianta Calandré have offered us valuable insights into our emissions, empowering us to implement targeted strategies for current and future emission reductions.

The PCF calculation follows a cradle-to-customer and end-of-life approach, meaning, it considers emissions according to the following lifecycle stages: the extraction and pre-processing of raw materials, packaging, production, supply of the product up to the customer’s factory gates, and any disposal emissions associated with the product and its packaging. This holistic approach ensures a thorough understanding of the environmental impact of these textiles.

The climate action strategy is based on the 5 steps of climate action: measure carbon footprint, set reduction targets, implement reduction measures, financially contribute to climate projects and transparent communication. This means that the CO2 emissions, have to decrease over time whilst simultaneously take action now by financially supporting climate offset projects.

You can transparently track our certification via the ClimatePartner certified label and the corresponding climate-ID pages. You can find out, among other details, the category of our certification, the emissions that have been taken into account, the reduction targets we have committed to, the measures we have already implemented, and more about the climate projects we are financing.

Brillianta Calandré

We stay committed to reducing emissions and are taking steps to reduce our impact on climate change. But even as we reduce our emissions, there will be emissions. To compensate unavoidable emissions, we financially support climate projects. Investing in climate projects is essential to achieve the climate goals in line with the Paris Climate Agreement to limit the temperature increase to 1.5°C.

Climate projects demonstrably avoid carbon emissions or remove them from the atmosphere, for example through reforestation measures or by replacing technologies that are harmful to the environment. These projects also promote the achievement of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals through improving living conditions in developing and emerging countries.

To ensure transparency and accountability, the climate protection outcomes of each project undergo regular audits, thorough examination, and certification VCS or Gold Standard, adhering strict regulations and international standards.

The ClimatePartner label guarantees that the carbon emissions of our certified products are measured, reduction targets are set, reductions are implemented, and climate projects are funded. This label also ensures that our commitment to sustainability is both genuine and verifiable.

But our commitment to sustainability doesn’t stop here. With ClimatePartner we have mapped out the emissions on the organizational level, meaning scope 1,2, and partly scope 3 in order we can systematically reduce and, when possible, avoid them. Our emissions will be assessed frequently to  track progress and improvements. We aim to positively and effectively contribute to climate protection and social change in our industry.
